January Newsletter

6 month 'til Summer!...but who's counting?!? Actually, we are! Our Summer 2020 Schedule is released and priority registration for current members starts February 17, right around the corner! Help us offer the best selection of class types, days, and times by completing the survey above. We want to do our best to accommodate our families' busy schedules!

Skill Tracking Updates & Summer Recommendations

Coaches will be evaluating skills and updating Parent Portal Skill Tracking over the month of January. All students will receive a card with their recommended class level for summer in the beginner of February. Please remember that your child's skills may not be completely updated if they miss class or attend a make up class.

Kindergym students are promoted through Sparks, Sparklers, Flares, Flames, and up to Beginners or Class 1/2 based on age. Gymnasts in our Progressive Program are promoted through Classes 1 - 4 based on skill mastery. Students move to Novice 1-2 and Advanced 3-4 when they turn 9 or 10 years old and are then promoted by skill mastery. Tumbling and Ninja students are promoted by age.

Policy Highlights

General Altius Safety; Respecting personal space

Our number one goal during classes is your child’s safety. One of the biggest safety concerns is one student running / rolling / jumping into another student’s practice area; it’s dangerous for all children involved. It’s extremely important for both safety and the learning atmosphere of the class that students stay in their designated space. Children who repeatedly behave in a manner that is unsafe to themselves or other students will be removed from class for a break in the waiting area. They may re-join class when emotionally and mentally ready to follow the coaches’ directions.

Ponies PLEASE!

Please remember that all hair should be pulled back into a neat ponytail, braid, or half ponytail for shorter hair. Jewelry and fitness trackers should be removed before class. We don't want anything to get lost forever in the foam pits.

Winter Clothing

Children are welcome to wear sweatshirts, pants, & socks during the warm-up portion of the class. Any clothing must be discarded before classes start their events.

Illness Policy

Please help our students (and coaches) stay healthy by keeping sick children home from class. Children who come to class with a severe runny nose or persistent cough will be sent to the office to call home. We are happy to schedule a makeup for your child when they are feeling better!

Winter Weather Policy

It's time for snow and cold in Wisconsin. Any closing will be listed on WISN 12, on the Altius website, and our Facebook page. During inclement weather, please check our website to see if we are open instead of calling the gym.

If Altius stays open and you feel uncomfortable traveling to a class in the weather conditions, you are welcome to schedule a makeup or request an open gym pass good for KinderTime, Family, or Grade School Open Gyms via the front desk.

In the case of Altius closing due to extreme weather conditions, we email open gym passes to recreational students who miss class. Per our customer handbook, Altius does not offer refunds, credits, or make-ups for extreme weather cancellations. In the rare case that we cancel on the same day TWICE in one season, we will issue account credits to the affected customers.
